  • Resource constraints: Several of our clients mentioned the fact that analytics resource in their business is constrained and there is just not enough time to do everything! We talked about how important it is prioritise and allocate resource where it will have the biggest business impact, which can sometimes mean having to outsource your analytics.

  • Relaying the value of data to Execs: How to get buy in for data and analytics and communicate the cost versus benefit of ‘building valuable data’ to Execs in a way that they understand was something we spoke about a lot. Stay tuned for more to come on this topic in our next blog!

  • Transforming data into insight: With self-service dashboards gaining traction in a lot of organisations, our business leaders talked about the challenges of conveying not only the facts and figures, but also the insights behind the data and how to ensure this gets showcased at the top table.

  • Creating a single source of truth: This is not something that is new, but still a problem many organisations face – how to bring together a multitude of systems, datasets and reports to show one clear, consistent view and ensure all business decisions feed off that one source.

  • Managing COVID-19: With 2020 having been such an unprecedented year, managing the business impacts of COVID-19 has diverted the focus away from more strategic priorities for a number of businesses. This has put them on the back foot to where they had hoped to be from a data and analytics perspective.

  • Measuring value: The final point that some of our leaders mentioned, was how it can be difficult to gauge the value that data is adding to the organisation, particularly for non-customer facing work, and therefore challenging to justify it as a top priority.
